Monoprints

Thursday, January 30th, 2014

For the monoprints I rolled ink out onto the table and pressed a piece of paper over it. Then I took a biro and drew on the paper so that the ink would come through on the bits I drew on. I enjoyed this thoroughly as it gave me more freedom to draw something different each time, instead of having to print the same thing over and over.

Linocuts

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

To make my linocut, I had to research the Timelord language to work out how to spell Time. After that I drew the symbols out and traced them onto a piece of Lino. I then had to cut the symbols out of the Lino with a linocutter. I also added the English translation underneath. Last of all I rolled ink onto the smooth, un-cut surface of the Lino and put it through a press. I enjoyed this quite a lot and seem to have got quite carried away and produced 13 different copies. I have only put the best ones forward on my blog:

Intaglio printing

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

After scratching the image into a thin plastic sheet, I scrubbed ink into the scratches and wiped the smooth plastic screen. After putting it through a printing press it took me a few times until I worked out how much ink and how much pressure to use. I am still very pleased with the results:
